Consider these statements from ASIC guidance. (i) Scaled advice can be given to existing clients who previously received comprehensive advice. (ii) A client's request to limit scope means the adviser need not consider whether the scope is appropriate.
Statement (i) is true: RG 244.60(c) of ASIC's Regulatory Guide 244 says scaled advice can be given to the same client on multiple occasions, including after comprehensive advice. Statement (ii) is false: RG 244.65 and Table 2 say the adviser must use judgement to determine a scope consistent with the client's relevant circumstances.
Client-suggested scope still needs the adviser's judgement.
