Consider these statements from RG 244. (i) Advice delivered online is regulated more lightly than advice given face to face. (ii) An adviser authorised to advise on a wide range of topics cannot give scaled advice on a single issue.
Statement (i) is false: RG 244.94-244.95 of ASIC's Regulatory Guide 244 say the Corporations Act is technology neutral and the same rules apply however advice is delivered. Statement (ii) is false: RG 244.60(a) and RG 244.91 say you can give scaled advice on one issue even if authorised to advise on a wide range of topics.
Neither the channel nor the breadth of authorisations changes the rules on scaled advice.
