A client who is legally blind asks for advice on investing a TPD payout. Which adjustment BEST supports Standards 4 and 5?
Standards 4 and 5 of the Financial Planners and Advisers Code of Ethics 2019 require informed consent and reasonable grounds to be satisfied the client understands the advice. Accessible formats (such as large print, screen-reader compatible files or audio) and time to review respect his independence and meet those standards. An SOA is still required (Corporations Act 2001 s946A, compilation 19 Sep 2026), and relying on a relative raises privacy and influence concerns.
Accessibility supports understanding without removing legal requirements.
